Bearing failure early warning
PassReads vibration records taken every 10 minutes until the bearing failed (about 7 days) in order from the start, and validates when the first warning could have been raised before failure.

- Validation with public bearing life test data (IMS Center, University of Cincinnati, USA; distributed by the NASA Prognostics Data Repository; test 2 bearing 1). This is not field equipment data.
- Results for 1 bearing(s), 1 failure record(s).
- The warning threshold is the median of the normal period (records 16 to 82 h) plus 6 times the standard deviation. A warning is confirmed when the threshold is exceeded 5 times in a row (40 min).
- The normal period was set to 10 to 50% of the total record length. It was chosen with the failure time known.
- The failure time was taken as the record just before the vibration level drops sharply at the end of the data. The last two records after the drop are post-failure records.
- The criterion (warning at least 24 h before failure) is the imSim predictive maintenance validation criterion. It is not a pass threshold tailored to the equipment type.
- Precise prediction of remaining useful life in hours is under development and is not included in these results.
- This validation replays recorded data; it is not a result from live field operation.
